Detroit Wire Wheels Care & Maintenance

Proper care and maintenance are essential to preserving the appearance, performance, and longevity of your Detroit Wire Wheels.  Failure to follow these maintenance guidelines may result in corrosion, finish deterioration, or other conditions not covered under warranty.

Routine Cleaning

  • Allow wheels to cool completely before cleaning.
  • Do not use pressure washers or automatic car washes, as they may damage spokes, hubs, caps, and seals.
  • Clean using a non-acidic wheel cleaner or mild dish soap mixed with warm water.
  • Use a soft-bristled brush or spoke brush to clean between spokes and hard-to-reach areas.
  • Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately with a clean microfiber towel to prevent water spots.

Corrosion Protection

  •  After cleaning and drying, apply a light coating of WD-40 to the spokes and hub to help protect against moisture, brake dust, dirt, and corrosion.

Maintenance & Storage

  • Periodically remove wheels for a more thorough cleaning, including the back side of the wheel.
  • Check tire pressure at least once per month and maintain proper inflation levels.
  • Inspect wheels regularly for loose hardware, damage, or excessive wear.
  • Before winter or long-term storage, thoroughly clean and dry the wheels, then apply a protective coating such as WD-40. Store in a clean, dry environment.
